Victory Poker Officials Recap First Two Weeks

On February 6th, the crew from Victory Poker celebrated the launch of the new Everleaf/UPN network site at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Now, one week after the festivities and two weeks after its debut, Victory Poker appears to be chugging along.

The diverse team of pros at Victory Poker includes Andrew “good2cu” Robl, who finished third in a $5,000 Limit/No Limit Hold’em event during the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for $144,000, outlasting everyone except for poker superstars Erick Lindgren and Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo in the 332-player field. Robl told Poker News Daily how Victory Poker has been faring in its first few days in operation: “The launch went really well and there was a lot of buzz and hype in the poker community. Overall, people’s reactions have been positive and the website has been getting a lot of traffic.”

Officials from the USA-facing room told Poker News Daily that Victory Poker’s website has been seeing 1,500 visitors per day. According to the traffic ranking site PokerScout.com, the Everleaf/UPN family of sites has seen its traffic grow steadily since the end of January. On February 1st, a peak of 623 real money ring game players took to the network’s felts. Now, that number sits at 698 and is growing steadily. Robl added that the traffic figures were “better than we expected.”

Winning a date with Sara Underwood is one of the promotional opportunities on the horizon for Victory Poker users. Underwood, the 2007 Playboy Playmate of the Year, is a sponsored pro of Victory Poker and finished fourth in a charity poker tournament held during the site’s kickoff party in Sin City. Other promotions that allow customers to interact with Victory Poker pros in a live setting will follow.

Some in the industry questioned why Victory Poker would join the relatively small Everleaf/UPN network rather than a larger USA-facing entity like the Cake Poker Network. Robl explained, “A lot of sites have become so big and so corporate that there’s no real feeling of a community. Our pros will be playing on the site and even playing small stakes. You can come on Victory Poker and play $0.50/$1 with Antonio Esfandiari. That’s pretty cool.”

Other Victory Poker pros include former DoylesRoom Brunson 10 member Alec “traheho” Torelli, former Full Tilt Poker pros Paul Wasicka and Lee Markholt, Chinese Poker guru Danny Wong, “Flying Bilzerian Brother” Dan Bilzerian, and online poker pro Brian “tsarrast” Rast. Despite the strong group, Robl commented that the site will expand its roster of pros: “We definitely want to get more pros involved – maybe some foreign players – but we’re going to be very selective. We only want elite players. We don’t want to be like PokerStars or Full Tilt and have 200 pros.”

Despite being in business for less than half a month, Victory Poker has already had a considerable amount of exposure in the live arena. Wasicka recently took down the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Championship in Tunica, earning $139,000. He defeated Larry Gurner heads-up in a final table that also included Lock Poker’s Matt “All In At 420” Stout, Carter “BdyBldngpkrplyr” Phillips, and Dwyte Pilgrim. Wasicka earned his first gold ring as a result, but gained fame in the poker world for finishing as the runner-up to Jamie Gold in the 2006 WSOP Main Event for $6.1 million. Wasicka donned a Victory Poker patch in Tunica, giving the nascent room some much-needed face time.

Robl is passionate about Victory Poker succeeding. He explained that the team at Victory Poker is dedicated to seeing the site flourish: “We all want Victory Poker to do really well. We really believe in our vision for the company and we’re all going to work very hard to bring Victory Poker into the top five or 10 poker sites.”

Victory Poker Pro Paul Wasicka Wins Harrah's Tunica $5,000 Championship

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - February 11, 2010) - At 1PM CST, notified his more than 2,200 followers on Twitter that he was going heads up at the final table for the Harrah's Tunica Championship title. Victory Poker – Don’t Waste Your Time

On Monday February 1st, a new online poker community launched called Victory Poker, as part of the Everleaf Gaming network. I was offered a 300% deposit bonus by Las Vegas Poker Source if I used the code “LVPS”, so I figured I might as well give this new online poker room a try. After all, that is one hefty bonus and a new poker site is always, without fail, full of fish.

Downloading the software and depositing money was a snap. The software is pretty high quality, smooth running, aesthetically pleasing and user friendly. The deposit bonus is set up in a slow release format, so that you earn it as you play instead of having a deadline that you have to meet to earn it. This is the second biggest plus of playing on Victory Poker – I like that I can take my time and still receive such a nice welcome bonus from them. They do offer rakeback at 40% if you’d rather take this option, but for me personally, I liked the choice of the large deposit bonus better.

What is the biggest plus of playing on Victory Poker? Wow, was I right on the money about the players! One word description = horrible. A new poker site tends to attract anyone and everyone, and whether or not they actually know how to play the game of poker is irrelevant. They just need somewhere to put their money, and if they’re getting anywhere near the nice deposit bonus I received, you can bet that they’ll tell all their bad “poker player” friends about Victory Poker as well.

I made a killing playing both sit and go tournaments and .25/.50 cash table. It was literally effortless to beat this group of complete donkeys who joined Victory Poker this week. And I didn’t see the amount of bad beat suck outs on Victory Poker that I do on Full Tilt and PokerStars on what seems like a constant basis. Haven’t tried out any MTTs yet, because it seems I have found my winning lottery ticket for the week just playing SNGs and the low stakes cash tables.

However, as with all dreams, they must come to an end eventually. I can estimate that this trend will wear off within a couple weeks, as more good poker players out there will learn about Victory Poker and their bonus and rakeback offers, so I plan on making bank over the next few days while I can still take advantage of the money that seems to be falling from the virtual sky. So anyone out there who actually knows how to play poker, or is a seasoned professional, please stay away from Victory Poker long enough for me to be able to earn money to pay my mortgage for the next year. I’d appreciate it!

Victory Poker, Who’s Your Daddy, and The Man Behind it All

Victory Poker, the newest online poker community, opened its virtual doors to the public on Monday February 1, 2010. The idea for this revolutionary new poker site came from the mind of 28 year-old Dan Fleyshman. Fleyshman has ten years of experience in owning and promoting multiple businesses (including a successful energy drink), and is very serious and passionate about his newest venture into online poker. He sat down the night of the project’s official launch to discuss everything having to do with Victory Poker with Las Vegas Poker Source.

Las Vegas Poker Source: Give us a little bit of background on yourself.

Dan Fleyshman: I trademarked the phrase “Who’s your Daddy” at age 17 and did $15 million in sales for products with that catch phrase. At age 23 I became the youngest owner ever of a publicly traded company and launched an energy drink. I drove the drink up the ranks to its current status of number 7 out of 900 energy drinks. In addition to doing all of that for 10 years, I had won a half dozen poker championships and decided it was time to explore that passion.

LVPS: What other companies do you own and operate?

DF: I resigned as president and hired a staff to take over the energy drink, so I am focusing on Victory Poker now.

LVPS: So you’re a poker player - what games/stakes do you like to play and at which casino in Las Vegas do you prefer to play poker?

DF: I really enjoy the feel of the Hard Rock Poker Lounge. I play $10/$20 and $25/$50 No Limit Holdem and $25/$50 Pot Limit Omaha.

LVPS: You mentioned you have some live poker accomplishments under your belt.

DF: Yes. I won the CEO Poker Championship in 2006 at the Palms, the 10k buy-in Chip Leader Challenge and the Canadian Poker Tour main event $2500 buy-in, both at Hard Rock.

LVPS: So why did you choose online poker as your next big business venture?

DF: The larger sites like Full Tilt and PokerStars have become very much like IBM or Apple; they have become massive and I wanted to create a more personal experience for poker players. And I want our poker pros to feel involved with team decisions, promotions, and anything else they come up with to make Victory Poker a great place to play online poker.

LVPS: From the original concept to the launch, what was the total time line for the project?

DF: We put this together in 96 days. Everything was fast forwarded due to my previous experience in owning a business. I knew exactly what attorneys to go with, which poker pros I wanted to approach, solid business associates, etc. I gave myself a February 1st deadline to have this ready to go and here we are, right on time!

LVPS: Who else is involved at the top of Victory Poker?

DF: I am the sole owner. Joe Navarro and Sam Chauhan are two of the consultants for the company.

LVPS: Who are some of the affiliates/site partners for Victory Poker?

DF: Victory Poker will be sponsoring the Canadian Poker Tour, World Poker Showdown, and High Stakes DB. We are currently advertising with Coinflip, Card Player, Bluff, Poker Player, and Poker Pro in Canada, Europe and America.

LVPS: What network is Victory Poker a part of and how did you decide to go with them?

DF: We operate on the Everleaf Network, which merged with UPN Network, and will soon come up with a new name. The merger tripled them in size. Red Planet Gaming created the Everleaf software. They won 2008 and 2009 International Gaming award for their software. Their CO, Vahe Baloulian, has a great reputation in the poker community. It was a good fit, because I wanted to have a company I could trust who I could talk to every day if needed. They are also the only network with an EU license that accepts US Players.

LVPS: Who are the poker professionals on board with your new site? What were they offered to entice them to choose your brand of online poker?

DF: Antonio Esfandiari, David Chicotsky, Brian Rast, Andrew Robl, Keith Gipson, Paul Wasicka, Lee Markholt, Danny Wong, Sander Lylloff, Alec Torelli, Dan Blizerian, and Sara Underwood. These professional poker players joined because they get to be an advisor to the “team” instead of being one of a hundred or more pros who simply wears a logo or shows up in the Sunday major events. Our team of pro players gets to learn about a business and be an integral part of it, create their own promotions, and more to be revealed soon.

LVPS: What will you offer players that will give you an edge over the competition?

I fully expect that people will still play on Full Tilt and PokerStars, but I want to offer them an additional fun place to play poker.

Of course, getting all the legal aspects set up correctly so as not to upset the government, make sure all laws are followed, and ensuring that licensing is correct…those are all major steps to getting this started, and none of it is easy, but I was fortunate enough to have dealt with it all before.

LVPS: Will Victory Poker be a presence at live poker events as well? How do you plan on making yourselves known?

DF: Yes, most definitely. We have a charity event for Sharon Osbourne’s Colon Cancer Foundation coming up on Feb 6th at Hard Rock, a Haiti event planned in Los Angeles on Mar 6 at W Hotel, just to name two. We plan to be very active with charity and invite plenty of media to these events. The goal is to create a bond with the media and poker community and to shed a positive light on poker for a change.

LVPS: Do you see the UIGEA being overturned anytime soon? What is your opinion on the whole online poker front?

DF: Prohibition doesn’t work – people will play poker whether they’re “allowed to” or not. The government could benefit from the taxing. It is the easiest business to tax in the world due to tracking hand histories. Online poker players absolutely cannot lie on their taxes about poker, so it would be very easy for the government to track, organize and audit. This is an aspect no one talks about. There is no downside to it for the government or economy, and people will pay this tax because they enjoy playing poker.

LVPS: Do you have any advice for people out there who want to become an entrepreneur like yourself?

DF: Your network is most important, because you can have all the drive and hard work in the world, but you need connections, help and deals. “Going for it” is fun, but you have to have a rhyme and reason for everything and proper funding or else you’ll learn expensive lessons the hard way. Be open for advice, hire attorneys, and have accountants. It is easier to start everything correctly than to have to go back two years later and fix it all.

Business life is so much easier with the onslaught of social media – take advantage! There are 40+ sites out there aside from the obvious ones. Use all of them, because they’re typically free and spread you in as many directions as possible.

LVPS: What would be your main mission in this new poker venture?

Victory Poker Launches February 1st (via Poker News Daily)

One day prior to Super Bowl XLIV between the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints, officials from Victory Poker will celebrate the site’s launch at a party at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. The online poker room will open for business on February 1st.

Victory Poker will make its home on the merged Everleaf/UPN network, which has yet to take on an official name. According to PokerScout.com, the newly created network will boast traffic similar to that of Betfair, which has a seven-day running average of 610 real money ring game players. A press release announcing the Trash Talk Championship of the World Straddle Tournament at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas on February 6th revealed that the Victory Poker launch party would occur at 10:00pm following the festivities.

UFC’s Randy Couture will be sporting a Victory Poker logo when he takes to the ring in UFC 109 against Mark Coleman. The bout emanates from the Mandalay Bay Events Center near the Hard Rock and will also feature Nate Marquardt facing off against Chael Sonnen and Matt Serra fighting Frank Trigg. The first brawl takes place at 4:45pm, while televised matches start at 7:00pm. Couture will don a dot-net logo for the new online poker room.

Antonio Esfandiari headlines the Victory Poker stable of pros. A World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, Esfandiari has become widely known for his insatiable appetite for prop bets. He even co-starred with his close friend Phil Laak on the MOJO show “I Bet You,” which ran for two seasons on the cable station. Esfandiari has three WPT final tables to his credit and one title, which came in the Season 2 L.A. Poker Classic. At the tender age of 31, Esfandiari is one of the veterans of the game.

Jumping over from DoylesRoom to be a part of Victory Poker is Alec “traheho” Torelli. The Cake Poker Network site and Torelli severed ties two weeks ago. Torelli has made two WPT final tables, finishing fourth in both the Bellagio Cup V and Solvakia events. The former will air its finale at 11:00pm ET on Fox Sports Net this Sunday in a one-hour episode. Poker Hall of Fame member Mike Sexton and actor Vince Van Patten will once again provide commentary for Season 8 of the WPT.

Coming over from Full Tilt Poker are Paul Wasicka and Lee Markholt. The latter was removed in recent days as a Full Tilt Red Pro and finished fourth in the WSOP Circuit Championship in Tunica four years ago for $183,000. In addition, Markholt won the WPT Season 6 World Poker Challenge in Reno for $493,000 and owns $1.3 million in career earnings from the roving tournament series. Wasicka was the runner-up to Jamie Gold in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, earning a colossal $6.1 million.

Also appearing in the Victory Poker pro lineup is Chinese Poker sensation Danny Wong. Owning the moniker “Chinese Poker Wizard,” Wong learned to play the game’s variation at age five. Despite his success in Chinese Poker, he’s also excelled in No Limit Texas Hold’em, making three WPT final tables. Joining Wong will be online poker pro Brian “tsarrast” Rast.

Those who watched the 2009 WSOP Main Event on ESPN will recall the deep run of the “Flying” Bilzerian brothers. Dan Bilzerian, who finished 180th, will become part of the Victory Poker cast. In his final hand of the $10,000 buy-in feature tournament, Bilzerian committed his stack with A-6, but could not best Jonathan “driverseati” Tamayo’s pocket tens. His brother, Adam Bilzerian, renounced his U.S. citizenship and is now a passport holder of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Other Victory Poker pros include Andrew "good2cu" Robl, Keith Gipson, David “The Maven” Chicotsky, Sander Lylloff., and 2007 Playboy Playmate of the Year Sara Underwood. The site is scheduled to launch on February 1st and will accept players from the United States.

The Trash Talk Championship is a $1,000 buy-in charity poker tournament benefiting the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program and Cedars-Sinai.

How to Play Texas Holdem, For Beginners

Texas Holdem is by far the most common for of poker played today due to is popularity there are even several TV shows of the game. Besides being popular texas Holdem is also the best game for a beginner to learn, the game can be learned after a few minutes and afte just a few hours of practice you can be playing fairly well against other beginners, but to really get good you must play often.

Texas Holdem is played the same way in the casino, online casinos and in your home with your pals.

Texas Holdem is played in the following manner:
1. Betting structures can vary. In Texas Holdem rarely are antes used. Most Texas Holdem games start with first two players on the dealers left placing predetermined bets. These players are called the small and large blind, and their bets are called posting the blinds.

2. Each player receives 2 cards face down. These cards are called you pocket cards and they are the only cards that are unique to you.

3. After each player is dealt their hole cards a round of betting takes place starting with the player to the left of the 2 blinds this round of betting is called the pre-flop. Just like in any other poker game a player can call raise of fold during their turn.

4. After the Pre-Flop round is over the dealer will remove the top card from the deck and discard it, this is called the Burn Card. This is done to make sure that no cheating is done. The dealer will then turn over 3 cards in the center of the table. This round is called the Flop. Any player may use any of these cards to make the best 5 card hand possible, but you are not allowed to actually touch the cards, each player can use the same cards if it help them, this is why your hole cards are so important.

5. As with the pre-flop there is now another round of betting, it is at this point you will start to see players folding.

6. After the betting is over, the dealer will burn another card, then deal the fourth of the communal cards. This card is called the Turn card

7. Again another round of betting begins and now is when you will start to see the size of the pot really grow.

8. One last time the dealer burns the top card before turning over the last card of the game, called the River card. Players now have all 5 of the communal cards and their own hole card to make the best 5 card hand.

9. One last chance is given to raise the bets or get out of the game. After this each player still in the game will show their cards. This is called the Showdown. The player with the best hand is declared the winner and wins the pot.

Now that you know the basic order of the game you are ready to start playing Texas Holdem. Holdem is a simple game to learn but if hard to master.
